“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” – 1 Corinthians 9:24 (NIV)
Being an athlete has taught me a great deal about life. Along with playing basketball throughout my junior and senior high school days, I also participated in Track and Field, and ran the 800 meter relay.
One major lesson I learned is that in order to succeed you have to persevere and push through the pain barriers and exhaustion that are felt at various points in the race.
Although life can be a series of tests and setbacks, it’s during these moments we learn to develop patience and endurance as we determine to run our race and finish strong.
Knowing that we are not alone, we can hold fast to God’s promises, push through every obstacle in our path, and cross the victory line.
